Print it Yourself
Discussion: The sophistication and ease of use of digital printers has improved to the point where you might want to consider printing our work yourself. The artist in me says this with some hesitation, but I have given it a fair amount of thought. I think it is worth trying,
The fact is that many many photographers have prints made of their work outside their own studio. Many great photographers are simply so busy doing great work with their cameras that they do not have time to make prints themselves.
Of course they control the quality of the work done by reviewing proofs and assessing the quality of the work that is done for them.
The question is, would I trust you to print my work? This is an experiment in “Yes” as the answer to that question.
I did my own experiment recently. I purchased an Epson ET (Ecotank) 2800 (an inkjet printer) for about $200, and, using photo quality matte inkjet paper, made some prints of my favorite images. They looked great.
So, my tentative answer to the question, is, yes, I think that you can make great prints of my images, if you use photo quality paper, and a printer that is capable of photo quality output (they start around $100 these days). It is fair to assume actually, that any home “office” with an inkjet printer (probably laser too, but I have no experience with them), can make a high quality print of one of my images.
Would you like to try? I’ve decided on the following policy. Size is 11x14 or smaller. Price is $10. NOT for resale, personal use only, please. (downloading creates a legal obligation for this limitation), and no limit on how many you make (for your personal use). So this means, yes, if you download a notecard file for $10 you can reuse it to make as many copies of the note card as you can write.
