Robert Manz Studio is a publisher of fine art photographs with a sense of place. We publish the work of our artists as calendars, note cards, post cards and prints on card stock, coated (for inkjet) card stock and rag paper. As we build the collection we are reaching out beyond our original notion of a sense of place to something broader, maybe we could call it “Connection”.

We love art where we get a sense or understanding of the connection between the artist and the subject, whether it be your bsck yard, your story, your lover, yourself. And the feeling that the artist has successfully and powerfully shared that connection with the viewer.

We are publishers, we know what we like and we only publish what we like. To be fancy we could call that a curated collection.

If we like your art and you like the art we publish we will probably work well together.

Our basic business model is you give us permission to print and sell your work in return for a royalty payment based on sales. There are some wrinkles in the calculation, e.g. net of card processing fees,, but the rates are 20% of wholesale sales to stores or on third party platforms like ETSY and 50% of retail on sales from our own website, RobertManzStudio.com.

We are happy to sell direct to you the artist for you to resell and we put that price at a level where it is practical for you to resell to stores. That price is 25% of recommended retail price and needs to be ordered online with payment on order.

Right now we are publishing on Cape Cod and in Maine and have been doing this for a few years now, working on our business model, cultivating our artists, and developing relationships with customers.

We are ready to expand geographically, and are interested in working with artists across the continental USA. And in Europe. (Robert has dual citizenship in the Republic of Ireland)

We have a business strategy that can be summed up as “micropublishing”, taking advantage of the low run cost effectiveness of high quality inkjet. This means that we build up a set of interrelated products, anchored by our calendars that we can produce cost effectively in low quantities. You don’t have to order 1,000 or 5,000 copies. Actually you don’t have to order anything as our payment model is royalty based - 20% of the selling price, whether wholesale, retail or in between.

If we like your work, and you want us to, we will publish it. As a micro-publisher no place is too small for us, if there are people who love it.

The artist, of course retains ownership of their work, and since our license is non-exclusive, is not in any way constrained from other uses of their work.

We believe in the integrity of human beings and all living things. We are searching for ways to express these principles in our art and business. If you have any kind of aversion to those principles, you would best do business elsewhere.
