Election Day 11/3/26

It seems to me there was something symbolic about the experience of the reroofing of this building the last two days.

The noise was incredible and relentless. The high ceiling in back is of course right under the roof. First came the hard scrape of nails shingles and tarpaper being ripped off the roof, then the darkness of it all raining down past the net covered windows, then the nail guns aimed straight down at me. Six shots to a shingle sheet. I never figured out whether it was an automatic trigger sequence or the shooters are that coordinated.

Then the teams. The men on the roof were brave agile strong and brown. The men driving the trucks, delivering the dumpsters and organizing were white. They all knew exactly what they were doing and after two days it’s all done. I think.

I was intrigued by a small man who was Sisyphus. I saw him climbing up a ladder to the roof with a fifty pound shingle pack on his back and marveled at his strength and agility. I couldn’t believe he did it. Then I realized he kept doing it. Up and down up and down up and down. I marvel.

We paid $70,000 for this work . If half is materials and there were twenty workers, and it was divided evenly then each got $1750 for two days work. If each got $1,000 then maybe that’s still good. I don’t know.

All I know is that as I worked here, nail guns aimed down at me, I prayed to the universe that our studio would be safe and the world tomorrow would be a better place to work in.

Maybe it is today, November 4, and maybe  it doesn’t seem frivolous to have an idea for a $10 sale in the studio on Thanksgiving weekend.

To wit

$10 SALE

The Saturday after Thanksgiving everything in the Robert Manz studio (1 Jonathan bourne Drive, Suite 6, Pocasset) that’s not on the walls, will be on sale for $10 - or $20, or $30, or $40, or $50.

But all at a huge discount.

So for example the print bins with 17×22 prints that are normally $100, will be $50 and an assortment (random) of 2027 calendars printed and packaged will be $10 each.

Framed work on the walls , you will be free to make an offer but be warned that prices range from $100 to $5000.

Most will be Robert’s work but many of our published artists will be selling as well……..

More details will come in a forthcoming newsletter.
