Printer Challenges

The picture below shows most of our printer firepower, though some of it is not firing. To the far left is our Epson Surecolor P7000. It makes beautiful prints up to two feet wide and as long as the computer can handle the file size . I have a ten foot high sunset banner to my right as I write.

To its right is an empty table. We will come back to that. Then an iMac, a power chair and to the right a printer on lease that has been our workhorse this year, an Epson Ecotank 16650U. The amber light burning there says it’s worn out.

Epson says “we will see”.

So the empty table that we passed over awaits a second 16650U that we have ordered on lease because Epson is dragging its feet on fixing or replacing the one with the amber light.

I’m not sure ordering this is a smart move but I’ve made it because we print on demand and this is the time of year when customers really want their calendars and note cards.

I have dubbed this “Colby’s Corner” although we both work here. Colby Fish has the most sensitive aesthetic sensibility I’ve ever seen. This means that when your print comes off and Colby sees it, and passes it, you know it looks good.

Right.

Beautiful.

Meantime Robert will get back on the phone with Epson to persuade them to hurry up. We love their printers, we have doubts about their service.

And friendly note to Shaquille O’Neal, they must love your voice man because I’ve heard it say “just wait” a hundred times this week, and expect to a hundred more next week.

Final note. You may wonder whether we are shut down during the wait. Not so. Off camera to the right is our workhorse’s cousin an Epson Ecotank 16600. It has a higher resolution printhead but goes at half the speed. Until we get the new one and the replacement for the down one, I would urge you to get your order in soon. We will do it, but we would like to get some sleep too.
